CAJAMURCIA MIXED DOUBLES
For the second year running, Cajamurcia are Sponsoring a mixed pairs at Horizonte, on March 24th.With 44 pairs entered this will be a keenly fought championship, this starts at 9-30.
SCANDINAVIAN MANAGEMENT MIXED TRIPLES
This pre league mixed triples was held at Pinomar, with 32 teams contesting the Scandinavian Management Trophy. With all teams playing 5 games each it was the Torre Del Moro club who triumphed, with Bertil Andreasson, Siggan and Ingvar Carlsson, who emerged with 5 wins, they took the Gold Medals and cash prizes. Runners up were Sussie and Kaj Bjarve, and Jan-Erik Jarlestam; from El Horizonte they won the Silver medals and cash prizes. Third place went to home trio of Marianne and Lennart Gustafsson, and Uno Gustafsson. The only English team of Ash Patel, Wyn Surridge and Roger Seymour took 6th place, having narrowly lost to the winners by 13-11.
TORRE DEL MORO MENS DOUBLES
With sunshine making a return this men’s doubles, provided some excellent Petanca, with two teams unbeaten after 5 games a piece. The in form Jannie Eriksson and Kaj Bjarve of Horizonte are playing so well, they met Reijo and Bengt Melkersson from Rosaleda in the final, this was a good final with both Janne and Kaj having that cutting edge that was to win the match, they won the Gold Medal and cash, with runners up Reijo and Bengt the silver medal, the host club had third place with Benny and Jussi taking the bronze medal .
CAJAMURCIA MIXED PAIRS
For the second year running Horizonte stage the Cajamurcia mixed pairs which is Sponsored by Cajamurcia Bank on March 24th. With 44 teams competing this will be a keenly fought meeting with most of the top players involved. Home favourites will be Sussie and Kaj Bjarve, closely followed by Birgitta Jarlestam, and Janne Eriksson, they will have some strong opposition, which augers well for some top Petanca.

The Norwegian club singles championship was won by Kjell Tenneveld, with Pauline Digernes, a close runner up. Third place went to John Breivik
CAJAMURCIA PREMIER LEAGUE
With a cold rain, the opening day of the new league programme was not the normal weather expected. In serie 1a, The top two teams San Luis and El Horizonte met in the opening match, it was the Horizonte trio who drew first blood with a convincing first game victory, the Champs did pull back with a great effort to win by 12-12. With Sussie and Kaj Bjarve and Jan-Erik Jarlestam, in fine form they put Horizonte back in the lead, which left the final match to decide this was a closely fought match which San Luis did well to win and share the points, it was still very cold, with the second round underway Horizonte met Mil Palmeras, who had started well, this was again a good performance from Horizonte who ran out winners by 3-1. San Luis then faced Torre Del Moro; this was a better show from San Luis who won the match by 4-0, which was to edge them into first place. The two newly promoted teams Pinomar and Torre Del Moro ended the day in 5th and 6th place.
Next Friday, March 19th Mil Palmeras host the days play.

CAJAMURCIA PREMIER LEAGUE
With the halfway mark reached, the leaders of serie 1a, are El Horizonte, they met La Rosaleda, who was in second place, this resulted in a 3-1 victory, and 2 points. The current league champions San Luis, recovered from last weeks upset to beat Pinomar, by 3-1, this moves them back to second place. Mil Palmeras, and Torre Del Moro, ended up with 2 wins a piece and 1 point.
SERIE1B The leaders after ten games are La Siesta, they have maximum points, they defeated El Limonar by 3-1. La Marina, were in trouble against Torre DelMoro, they lost by 4-0, which puts them into 5th place, and Torre Del Moro are now second. The final game was between San Luis and Rosaleda; this resulted in a 3-1 victory for San Luis, who moves up into 4thplace with Rosaleda, in 3rd place. El Limonar, is struggling this season, and has yet to gain a point.
SERIE2A El Horizonte met La Siesta, in a top of the table clash; La Siesta field an all English team who are making a serious bid for honour’s, this ended all square, 2-2, and Horizonte hold a 1 point lead, over La Siesta. San Luis, were too strong for El Limonar, winning by 3-1, this keeps El Limonar in bottom position and yet to gain a point, while San Luis are in 4th place. The final game was between Torreta 3, and Torre Del Moro, this ended a draw
SERIE 2B El Horizonte, have made a sound start, and lead the serie having beaten Torreta by 3-1. Mil Palmeras and La Rosaleda battled it out for a 2-2 draw; this keeps MilPalmeras in 2nd place, with La Rosaleda in 4th place. Another British team Blue Lagoon are in 3rd place with a fine 4-0 win over Pinomar,
SERIE 3A New leaders are MilPalmeras they were in good form against Rosaleda, they won by 4-0, with 3 of the ties by the odd point, encouraging play by MilPalmeras. The Norwegian team Kule Venner were hoping for a good result away toLa Marina, but the hosts were in top form and ran out clear winners by 4-0. This puts La Siesta into 3rd place and Kule Venner down to 5th. The final game was between El Horizonte and Torre Del Moro, this ended 2-2, with El Horizonte, in 2nd place and Torre Del Moro in 4th place
SERIE 4B This is shaping up nicely with newcomers Castillo, maintaining some good form they met Montesinos at El Rancho and ran out winners by 3-1, the new San Luis team also ran out clear winners over La Marina by 4-0, which just kept San Luis in 1st place, with Castillo on the same points in 2nd place. Torre Del Moro, snatched a 3-1 win over La Siesta, this moved Torre Del Moro into 4th place.
BLUE LAGOON PETANCA
They play at Anita's Bar on Monday and Thursday at 2pm, the team play in both the Costa Blanca serie and shortly the L as Salinas’s league. Newcomers are more than welcome,

HORIZINTE OPEN MIXED PAIRS
With 40 teams meeting at Horizonte for the final championship of the year, and amazing weather for mid December, the teams set about trying to reach the final stages.
With home favourites Sussie and Kaj Bjarve the team in form they made the final with just 1 defeat, they faced the San Luis pair of Phoebe and Derrick Beech, who too had played really well to make this stage/With both pairs taking early points, it was the power shooting from Kaj which again took its toll he was really enjoying the battle with Derrick, with good humour very much on show, the match went to Sussie and Kaj, who just had that extra luck sometimes needed to take the 100e and gold medal. Full marks to Phoebe and Derrick they won 60e and the silver medals. Horizonte provided the 3rd place with Ewa and Helmuth Bowes, having a good day they faced team mates Inger Lil and Conny, this was a comfortable victory for Ewa and Helmeth, they won 40e and the bronze medal

SAN LUIS TAKE GOLD The play off for the Cajamurcia Premier league was held at neutral Horizonte with San Luis the winners of serie 1a, and La Siesta, who came back well in the final game to snatch victory over San Luis 1, who crashed heavily away to Blue Lagoon, and with La Marina also playing well they moved into 2nd place. So the first play off winner would shortly be known. It was La Siesta who set the tempo with a good win over San Luis by 13-9, the scores had been close throughout and at 9 all it was a break for La Siesta which gained a morale boosting first win. San Luis did hit back well taking the second game by 13-6. the same trio then met La Siestas in form trio this was well matched again with the scores level at 9 all, it was La Siesta who pulled away for a 2-1 lead. The final game and a lot of support for both teams, it was all San Luis who stepped up a gear to take the game and match by 13-2. This was well organised by the Horizonte club, who as holders were clearly disappointed that they were not playing. Onto the Asturias Restaurant, for an enjoyable dinner, which was followed by the presentation to the Premier league teams? First up were San Luis as winners of 1a, they received Gold medals from retiring president Nils Olaf Nordin, they were followed by Horizonte who had challenged hard, only to finish 1 point behind after 20 matches, they won the Silver medals, with Mil Palmeras taking the bronze. The winners of 1b, La Siesta received the Gold medal, and were clearly delighted. La Marina had played well all season and deserved the Silver medals, leaving San Luis 1, to take the bronze. It was San Luis back again to take the second Gold medals for winning the play off, with Britt and Alf Nilsson, and Bengt Bladlund, Wyn Surridge, Rolf Norberg, and Roger Seymour, joined by reserve Ulla Bladlund, making up the San Luis team. La Siesta, received the Silver medals. Presentations were made to both retiring officers Nils Olaf Nordin and long serving Secretary Hans Carlsson, Hans has done a wonderful job over the past 9 years and both deserved the awards made to them. So with good music and some still wanting to dance the day ended. LADIES SINGLES This Ladies singles championship was held at Torre Del Moro, with ideal weather after a long day it was Gun Britt from Torre Del Moro who won the top prize beating Berit Elofsson, of La Siesta in a close final. Marilyn Kelly finished a creditable 3rd ahead of Gun Inger from Torre Del Moro. an Luis Ladies took the next 3 places with Tuulikki Luoma, in 5th Wyn Surridge in 6th, with Phoebe Beech taking 7th and Margaret Hobbs of L Siesta in 8th. ROSLAGEN OPEN This mixed pairs was held at Horizonte, with 43 teams competing. After a long days play it was Tuulikki and Seppo Luoma from San Luis who emerged the winners, they have been a match for everyone this last few weeks wining 3 championships, they met home favourites Gunborg and Par in the final which went to Tuulikki and Seppo. In third place were Desiree Walter and Janne Soderstrom from La Marina, they beat home pair Paula and Olle. |

CAM BANK OPEN The Cam Bank Open was held at La Rosaleda, with a hefty 48 teams contesting the trophy. With all teams having 5 games in the morning session, this led to the top 16 making the final stages. The final was between Sussie and Kaj Bjarve of El Horizonte, and Wyn Surridge and Roger Seymour of San Luis, both pairs had won 8 games and now met for the top spot. The start was well balanced with both pairs picking up points , it was the shooting by Kaj which turned the game , he was in fine form throughout and this along with Sussie t his gave them the match after a long days play, Both pairs had played well throughout the day. Susie and Kaj won 60e, and a nice prize, with Wyn and Roger taking 40e and a prize. In third place was Sven Svensson and Goran Villaume of Rosaleda, they beat Monica and Jan Olaf Modigh of Torre Del Moro.

CHECKIN SCANDINAVIA OPEN PAIRS
This final championship of the year was for the Scandinavia Open mixed pairs which were held at Horizonte. A good turn out despite the early morning start, with some good play to match. Bay mid morning the sun was up and the coats were soon discarded. The finalists were home favourites Birgitta Jarlestam, and Jan Eriksson, they had won earlier against top pair Sussi and Kaj Bjarve, and now faced Marianne and Lennart Gustafsson of Pinomar, this was well matched with points hard earned, it was Birgitta and Jan who made the all important break and they moved up a gear to win the 100e first prize , Sponsored by Check in Scandinavia , Marianne and Lennart received 60e. The third place went to Sussi and Kaj who met Ulla Svensson and Lasse Klang from Torre Del Moro; this too was well matched with the home pair snatching victory in the closing stages. Prizes were awarded to Sue and Peter Mann and Wyn and Roger Seymour who received Sports wear from Bordados TP.
