Serieseger och div 3 nästa säsong

En dröm blev till verklighet.Efter seger mot Assyriska i sista matchen står vi nu som seriesegrare i div4 Örebro. En match som vi fick slita för att komma oss igenom, Assyriska stod för en av deras bästa prestation på hela säsongen och det kändes. Men efter Mohamed Nehads avgörande i 90+ står vi här som segare och tar steget upp i div3. Gythyttans IF vill tacka alla supportar,spelare,ledare,sponsorer mfl utan er hade detta inte varit möjligt. Referat: Grythyttans IF - IFK Hallsberg

Grythyttan returned to league action after the long break with a home victory over rock-bottom Hallsberg in a re-arranged fixture that solidifies GIF’s 100% home record and unbeaten run this season. After a slow start for the home side, the visitors took a shock lead when they capitalised on a stretched GIF back line and a slip from Zach Reynolds to allow the Hallsberg striker to get into the box, and despite a last ditch recovery tackle from Ben Diaby he fired low into the corner past the despairing dive of Nathan Steinwascher. GIF started to come back into the game and found their oppoents stubborn yet resolute as they looked to protect their lead. GIF created numerous chances in the first period with Stafford Chipungu Junior, Dylan Williams and Julian Stefano all going close with well-worked efforts. New arrival Mike Corbi was next to try his luck from a tight angle only to see his powerful drive beaten away by the visiting keeper. Then came the equaliser as Stafford Chipungu Junior disposed the hesitant Hallsberg defender and fired low into the far corner to restore parity. Quickly after and GIF were in front, a quick throw in from Julian Stifano was received by Stafford Chipungu Junior and after some good close control and muscular strength he beat the defender and the goalkeeper with a powerful low strike. The second half started in much the same vain and although Head Coach Dean Sibson was visibly unhappy with the amount of chances that were being created and not converted, the home side pressed on hitting the woodwork on two occasions and having no fewer than three goals disallowed for offside and handball offences. The visitors were riding their luck and despite defending very deep, the third goal was inevitable but GIF had to wait until the final moments to secure it. Moments before the third and decisive goal, the visitors had their best chance to get back into the game and only some smart and brave goalkeeping from Nathan Steinwascher allowed him to get to the through ball first before the Hallsberg centre forward. Then substitute Qudoos Algburi swept home the third goal moments after coming after good work down the right hand side to produce the low cross which was converted by Algburi at the far post. GIF dominated this fixture for long periods and on the balance of play should of won by a more convincing margin but they secured another three points and returned to the top of the table with eight games remaining. Head Coach Dean Sibson “We know we will have to be more ruthless than that in our upcoming games, we created enough chances tonight to win two games of football and we have to be more clinical. Referat: IK Sturehov - Grythyttans IF

GIF produced a spirited away performance to move six points clear at the top of the table with their thirteenth victory of the season. Sturehov proved tricky opposition when they visited GIF earlier on in the season and set up with a defensive shape to try to catch the table-topping visitors on the break. GIF started well with assured possession and created early chances for Mike Corbi and Dylan Williams only to produce good saves from the home goalkeeper. After a good press from the away sound Williams again Julian Stefano both had chances to take the lead but just failed to convert from close range. The movement of the GIF forward players was causing problems for the home side and from one piece of clever movement top-scorer Stafford Chipungu Junior rounded the home goalkeeper only to see his effort deflected away from the line by the Sturehov defenders. GIF weren’t to be denied for long and Chipungu Junior did get his goal shortly before the break firing in low from inside the box after good build up play from the GIF midfielders. Sturehov created several half chances, their best being a looping header from a set piece well saved by Nathan Steinwascher. At half time Qudoos Algburi was replaced by Gutale Wasuge and the substitute had an immediate impact, turning home on the goal-line to extend the yellow’s lead after a period of dominance at the start of the second half. With Sturehov boxed in and unable to find a route out, GIF pressed on in search of the third that would effectively end the game and secure the points. More chances came and went as GIF were looking a real threat only to see full back Marcus Micheletti dismissed for violent conduct after what was seemingly a head-butt from the Sturehov forward. Both players were shown red and Sturehov showed more intensity in their play in the remaining twenty minutes in search of a route back into the game. Their desire to push forward left spaces at the back and one of those was exploited by Chipungu Junior who latched onto a through ball and poked home past the on-rushing goalkeeping to seal the victory for GIF. Sturehov did pull a goal back in the final moments and put GIF under a sustained spell of pressure as the game to a close but the final whistle went and it was another victory for GIF in what was a tricky fixture but they remain unbeaten and at the top of the table. Head Coach Dean Sibson “I am very pleased with the result, today we had to battle and show that we could mentally and physically deal with what Sturehov had to throw at us and for large parts we did that.
